Workshop 1: Foundations of Sustainability
What does sustainability mean, and why does it matter?

Sustainability is about more than protecting the environment. It asks us to consider how environmental, social, and economic well-being are connected—and how today's decisions affect people and the planet over time. In this interactive workshop, we'll explore what sustainability means, how the field has evolved, and how sustainability takes shape at different scales, from global challenges to organizations, communities, and our own lives. Through real-world examples and hands-on activities, you'll practice looking at familiar challenges and opportunities through a sustainability lens.

You'll leave with a clearer understanding of sustainability and a practical framework you can use to recognize and explore sustainability opportunities.
